Acara tahunan penghargaan insan perfilman dan televisi Golden Globe 2020 ke 77 kembali digelar hari minggu 5 Januari 2020 waktu Amerika Serikat.
Aktris sekaligus rapper Awkwafina mencetak rekor baru sebagai keturunan Asia pertama yang meraih penghargaan Aktris Terbaik kategori film musikal atau komedi dalam Golden Globe Awards 2020 berkat The Farewell.
“Ini sangat luar bisa. Terima kasih. Ketika saya mengalami hal sulit, saya bisa menjual ini,” guyon Awkwafina usai menerima piala emas di atas panggung.
Sedangkan film perang garapan Sam Mendes 1917 menjadi film drama terbaik. Film itu mengalahkan Joker, Marriage Story, dan The Irishman.
Sementara itu, film musikal komedi terbaik jatuh pada garapan Quentin Tarantino, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Sejumlah pihak lain juga diumumkan sebagai pemenang Golden Globe, yaitu Joaquin Phoenix sebagai aktor terbaik, Renee Zellweger sebagai aktris terbaik, dan Sam Mendes sebagai sutradara terbaik.
